Craniosacral Therapy |
|
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a hands-on therapy which evaluates and enhances the craniosacral system. The craniosacral system includes the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) that encase the brain and spinal cord. This fluid filled system provides nutrients and removes waste products for the central nervous system.
Our CST treatments use a gentle and focused touch to help release restrictions in the craniosacral system. The goal is to optimize the function of the central nervous system, and thus can maximize a person’s own ability to heal. Treatments are performed in relaxing, private rooms, while you are fully clothed and lying on a massage table. The position can be adjusted for each person’s comfort.
CST techniques are gentle applications to “osteopathic philosophies”. CST was developed with extensive research at Michigan State University from 1975-1983. Because CST enhances your own body’s ability to heal, it has been effective in helping a wide range of medical conditions including, but not limited to:

Lymph Drainage Therapy |
|
Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT) or Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) involves the therapist using manual (hands-on) techniques to stimulate and increase lymphatic flow. The pressure varies, based on technique, but is typically very light and specific. Depending on each persons needs, the techniques may be done with clothes on, with loose fitting clothing, or may require some disrobing (similar to a traditional massage). The treatment is extremely relaxing and very pleasurable to receive. LDT is sometimes utilized purely for its relaxation effect.
The lymphatic system is critical to your body’s ability to drain fluids, detoxify organs and fluids, regenerate tissues, filter out toxins and foreign substances, and maintain a healthy immune system. When lymph circulation stagnates, fluids, proteins, macromolecules, ad toxins accumulate and normal cellular functioning is compromised. This can allow for many physical ailments and may hasten the aging process.
There are a number of different lymphatic techniques. The two most utilized techniques in the US were developed by Dr. Bruno Chikly and Dr. Vodder. Chikly techniques are generally very light and tend to elicit a profound relaxation effect by stimulating the body’s Parasympathetic Nervous System. This system is the part of our nervous system that regulates our relaxation response. Vodder techniques are a bit more direct and have been utilized for more than half a century in the treatment of lymphatic dysfunction and swelling.
We are pleased to offer therapists trained in both of these modalities. LDT/MLD have been found to be helpful for the following health concerns:

Frequency Specific Microcurrent |
Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) is a new type of electrical stimulation (e-stim) which utilizes resonance effects of frequencies on tissues and conditions to create beneficial changes. FSM uses the same current that your body produces on its own so it is not felt by most recipients. It is also safe to use with infants.
The technology has been clinically proven to reduce pain in to improve a variety of conditions and change pain and function in a large number of clinical diagnoses.
FSM was developed by Dr. Carolyn McMakin of Washington. Together with other practitioners around the country and abroad, clinical protocols have been developed. Frequency protocols are sequences of frequencies observed to have a certain clinical effect in various conditions. Lab studies have proven that we can reduce inflammation and eliminate pain in many cases after treatment. Practioners have been trained by Dr. McMakin since 1997 in the US and abroad.
Because such small current is used, it is susceptible to the hydration level of the recipient. In order to gain full benefit from this tool, you must be well hydrated. It is recommended that on the days of this therapy, you drink 8-10 glasses of water (not tea, coffee, etc) prior to your session. At a minimum, we recommend 1 quart in the 2 hours prior to your treatment.
FSM has had much clinical success with a huge array of problems, including but not limited to:

Detox Foot Baths |
Detox foot bathes were designed to cleanse, balance and enhance the bio-energy [the vital energy force present in the breath of bodily fluids]. This energy is the electro-magnetic force that is stored within the body and utilized by our cells. Chinese medicine refers to this energy as the "chi". The complex energy fields permeate and realign the body's energy field while improving oxygen levels. While the foot bath is widely used to increase energy [both physical and mental energy], vitality, and stamina, at the same time, it purges [detoxifies] the body of toxins, chemicals, radiation, pollution, synthetics, and other foreign material trapped in the skin layers that have clogged up the body's systems of elimination. Its internal cleansing includes parasite cleansing and liver detoxification, which results in less body fluid retention, reduced inflammation, improved memory, greater bladder control, a more balanced pH, a stronger immune system and significant pain relief, including headaches, gout and arthritis pain.
